Translator Declaration — Notarial Certification

A translator declaration is a document in which an external translator declares before a notary that their translation is faithful and accurate to the original document. The notary does not translate — they certify the translator's declaration. This path is suitable for any language, even when the notary does not speak the target language.

What is a translator declaration?

A translator declaration is an affidavit under the Notaries Law, 1976 (חוק הנוטריונים, תשל״ו-1976), in which a professional translator swears that they are proficient in both the source and target languages, and that the translation they performed is faithful and complete. The notary verifies the translator's identity, explains the meaning of the declaration, and certifies the signature. The translated document is attached to the declaration and receives notarial validity.

When do you need a translator declaration?

  • Translation to languages the notary doesn't speak — Russian, French, German, Spanish, and more
  • Translation of official documents for submission to foreign authorities
  • Translation of academic certificates, birth certificates, marriage certificates, etc.
  • Translation of legal documents, contracts, or wills
  • Translation of company documents for international business
  • Any notarial translation not performed directly by the notary

How does the process work?

  1. Send us the document for translation — we'll coordinate a professional translator in the required language
  2. The translator translates the document and prepares the translator declaration
  3. The translator visits the notary's office — physical presence of the translator is required
  4. The notary verifies identity, the translator signs the declaration
  5. The notary signs, stamps, and certifies — the translated document is attached to the declaration

Required documents

  • Original document for translation (or clear copy)
  • Translator's ID card or passport
  • Target language specification
  • Evidence of translator's qualifications (certificate or professional experience)

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between notarial translation and a translator declaration?

Notarial translation — the notary translates personally (only if fluent in both languages, 50% surcharge). Translator declaration — an external translator translates and declares, the notary certifies the declaration. The legal result is identical.

Does the translator need to visit the office?

Yes. The translator must sign the declaration in the notary's presence — this is a legal requirement.

Do I (the service requester) need to come?

No. Only the translator needs to be present. You can send the document via WhatsApp and we handle everything.

What languages are available?

Any language. We have a network of professional translators in Russian, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, and more.
