Contract Signature Authentication

Notarial signature authentication on a contract is a procedure in which a licensed notary certifies that the signatory signed the document in their presence, of their own free will, and after proper identification. This authentication is required for various transactions — property sales, partnership agreements, investment contracts, and more. Notarial authentication gives the contract enhanced evidentiary weight in court.

What is notarial signature authentication on a contract?

Signature authentication is a notarial act under the Notaries Law, 1976 (חוק הנוטריונים, תשל״ו-1976), in which the notary certifies that the signatory appeared in person, identified themselves with an ID card or passport, and signed willingly with full understanding of the document's content. The notary attaches a signed certification with an official notarial stamp. This certification constitutes sufficient evidence in court without additional proof (Section 19 of the Law).

How does the process work?

  1. Send the contract in advance via WhatsApp or email for review — to save time during the meeting
  2. Schedule an appointment at the office or request a notary home visit — the signer must appear in person
  3. Bring a valid ID card or passport for identification
  4. The notary verifies that the signer understands the document content and signs willingly

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does contract signature authentication cost?

197 ₪ for the first signer, 77 ₪ for each additional signer. Additional copies: 77 ₪ each. All prices before VAT (18%). The tariff is regulated and uniform.

Can I authenticate a signature without visiting the notary?

No. Signature authentication requires the physical presence of the signer before the notary. This is a legal requirement — the notary must identify the signer and verify the signature is made of free will.

What do I need to bring?

The original contract and a valid ID card or passport. If signing on behalf of a company — also a company registration certificate and board resolution.

Do both parties need to come together?

Not necessarily. Each party can come separately to authenticate their signature. The notary certifies each signature independently.

How long does the process take?

The meeting itself takes only 10-15 minutes. We recommend sending the contract in advance to save time.

Is it recognized abroad?

Yes. With a court apostille (41 ₪ government fee + 150 ₪ processing), the authentication is recognized in all Hague Convention countries. We handle the apostille too.

Does the notary review the contract content?

The notary verifies the signer understands the document, but does not provide legal advice and is not responsible for the contract's content.
