What is a certified copy?
A certified copy is a photocopy of an original document that a notary certifies as identical to the original. The notary examines the original document, copies it, and attaches an official notarial stamp confirming the copy is true to the original. Under the Notaries Law, 1976 (חוק הנוטריונים, תשל״ו-1976), the certification constitutes sufficient evidence that the copy is identical to the original.
