A life certificate (Certificate of Existence) is a notarial document confirming that a specific person is alive. It is mainly required by foreign pension funds, social security agencies, or insurance companies as a condition for continued pension or benefit payments. Without a valid life certificate, payments may be suspended.
What is a life certificate?
A life certificate is a document in which a licensed notary under the Notaries Law, 1976 (חוק הנוטריונים, תשל״ו-1976) certifies that the person appeared before them personally and is alive. The notary verifies identity via an ID document, records the date of appearance, and certifies with an official notarial stamp. The document is internationally recognized, especially with an apostille.
